Transforming Construction with Reality Capture Technologies
August 23, 2022 - August 25, 2022
Wu Conference Centre, University of New Brunswick
Fredericton, NB
Join the University of New Brunswick Off-site Construction Research Centre (OCRC) in Fredericton, New Brunswick from August 23 to August 25, 2022 for our first specialty conference in partnership with the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE).
The construction industry is on the brink of major transformation. This was highlighted by McKinsey and Company in their report titled, “The next normal in construction – How disruption is reshaping the world’s largest ecosystem.” This report highlights nine industry shifts including investment in technology and facilities. This is directly linked to reality capture technologies and used to support decision-makers in constructing and managing the built environment.
This specialty conference will feature presentations of peer-reviewed papers and relevant case studies to engage attendees in discussions about new and emerging technologies in the built environment. These topics focus on tools being used to enhance existing processes and inform better decisions for building, operating and maintaining the built environment. They include:
- Integration of reality capture with modern technologies (i.e. 3D printing, augmented/virtual/mixed reality, UAVs, etc.)
- Laser scanning to building information modelling (BIM) generation
- Quality inspection, condition assessment, safety monitoring and productivity improvement
- Resource and activity tracking
- Surveying, visual documentation and as-is modelling
- Use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning
We welcome the suggestion of additional topics for the conference program. Contact offsiteconstruction@unb.ca to discuss.
The conference technical program will feature state-of-the-art technologies and presentations on leading research around the world as well as case studies direct from industry. These sessions will be used as catalysts to discuss and explore applicable recent practices and new research in the field of reality capture.
