Overview
This Materials, Methods and Design course on Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) and Fiber Reinforced Concrete (FRC) is intended for Technologists, Architects, Engineers and Applied Scientists along with Enthusiasts of Civil Engineering and Sustainable Infrastructure. The similarities & differences of FRC and UHPC will be explored along with applications and design examples. The course materials were prepared for the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering by Mr. Vic Perry, Dr. Katrine Habel, Professor Dr. Bruno Massicote and Peter Calcetas who are industry and/or academic Subject Matter Experts and contributors to the practice and codification of UHPC and FRC in North America.

Peter Calcetas is a bilingual Professional Engineer with over 25 years of experience in sustainable infrastructure, structural engineering, research, product development, operations and applied sciences in the materials, building science and construction industries. Peter has been working with Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) for over fifteen years, advancing the technology through product development, design, manufacturing, commercialization, and collaboration with several transportation authorities and stakeholders. Mr. Calcetas is the secretary of the CSA A23.1-19’s Annex U. Peter is a Fellow of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering, currently serving as the Regional Vice President for Ontario with the CSCE.
