The Canadian Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (CPCI) is a well-established technical and marketing institute, founded in 1961, that is recognized throughout Canada as the body of knowledge for precast and prestressed concrete products and systems. CPCI’s purposes include stimulating and advancing the common interests and general welfare of the structural, architectural and specialty precast prestressed concrete industry in Canada. We accomplish this through an ongoing commitment to technical research, technical manual and best practice development, marketing and sustainability initiatives.
We are searching for a person to join our dynamic team and step into the newly created position of Technical Representative – Western Canada.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Technical Representative – Western Canada will reside in Western Canada, and report to the President. In addition to providing lead support to the three CPCI Western Canada regional chapters (BC, AB, and MB/SK) the candidate will also provide support to other staff on national technical and marketing programs and initiatives for the Institute. Regional activities will include, but not be limited to; being the local technical resource to CPCI members and clients, organizing and facilitating the regional chapter meetings, conducting lunch and learns with the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) community, acting as a spokesperson to the various industry audiences, representing the industry at conferences, advocacy where required, and growing the precast market in Western Canada. Nationally, activities will include, but not be limited to, working as the lead staff person on the Sustainability, Productivity and Safety committee, supporting the other National committees where required, and writing, reviewing and editing technical manuals and best practice documents that are routinely published by the institute.
CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will be either Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), or eligible for future registration, with a minimum of two years of experience either in a plant environment, or direct engineering design and/or business development and sales experience in the precast concrete industry. Recent graduates with a Master’s degree in Engineering in the precast or prestressed concrete field will also be considered. Previous experience with not-for-profit trade associations and Boards, either in a voluntary or staff position, would be beneficial. Strong verbal, presentation and written communication skills are a mandatory requirement.
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. This position is home-based in Western Canada.
