Ideally, he or she should have a solid expertise in <span class=\"s3\">processes for <\/span>potable water production and wastewater treatment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Knowledge related to the reuse of water, the recovery of water resources (in the context of the circular economy), the treatment of emerging pollutants, the decentralization of treatment, production and treatment in vulnerable communities (Nordic and developing countries) and adaptation to climate change are an asset.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">In addition, the candidate must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p3\">hold a Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Water Engineering (or related engineering field like civil, chemical or environmental engineering);<\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\">have a Ph.D., or about to obtain it, relevant to the field of <span class=\"s4\">water engineering <\/span>(or related engineering field like civil, chemical or environmental engineering);<\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\">demonstrate strong potential to develop and conduct a high quality funded research program;<\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\">demonstrate strong teaching interest and capability;<\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\">demonstrate strong interest and ability to collaborate with other Department researchers;<\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\">master the French language, both orally and in writing (<span class=\"s5\">or commit to acquire it<\/span>; if applicable, the candidate must, within a reasonable time, without going beyond the promotion to the rank of Associate Professor, demonstrate a functional proficiency in oral and written French);<\/li>\n<li class=\"p3\">be a member of the \u201cOrdre des Ing\u00e9nieurs du Qu\u00e9bec\u201d (or commit to become one in the short term).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\">The selected candidate will be expected to collaborate with other researchers of the department. He (she) will have access to state-of-the-art facilities from <em><span class=\"s1\">Laboratoire sur le d\u00e9veloppement <\/span><\/em><span class=\"s1\"><em>durable des infrastructures urbaines<\/em>, <\/span>funded in part by NSERC, FQRNT, the <em>Canada Foundation for Innovation<\/em> (CFI) and the Government of Quebec.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Department of Civil Engineering and Water Engineering is composed of 22 professors working in the areas of water and environment, geotechnics, and structures and materials. The department hosts research and teaching Chairs, research centers, and internationally recognized research groups. There are two undergraduate programs, one in Civil Engineering and the other in Water Engineering.
