The research should make use of the equipment acquired through CFI and NSERC grants.<br \/>\u2022 Participate in academic duties and contribute to the department activities and its programs in Civil and Water Engineering;<br \/><br \/><strong>Required qualifications<br \/><\/strong><br \/>The candidate must demonstrate the potential and skills needed to achieve excellence in teaching and research. Ideally, he or she should have a solid expertise in geotechnical engineering and transportation infrastructure. Knowledge in cold regions engineering would be an asset.<br \/>In addition, the candidate must:<br \/>\u2022 hold a Bachelor&#8217;s degree in Civil Engineering (or related engineering field);<br \/>\u2022 have a Ph.D., or about to obtain it, relevant to the field of geotechnical engineering and pavement engineering (or related engineering field);<br \/>\u2022 demonstrate strong potential to develop and conduct a high quality funded research program;<br \/>\u2022 demonstrate strong teaching interest and capability;<br \/>\u2022 demonstrate strong interest and ability to collaborate with other Department researchers;<br \/>\u2022 master the French language, both orally and in writing (or commit to acquire it; if applicable, the candidate will, within a reasonable time, without going beyond the promotion to the rank of \u2018associate professor\u2019, demonstrate a functional language proficiency of the oral and written French);<br \/>\u2022 be a member of the \u201cOrdre des Ing\u00e9nieurs du Qu\u00e9bec\u201d (or commit to become one in the short term).<\/p>\r\n<p>The chosen person will be expected to collaborate with the researchers of the department. He (she) will have access to state-of-the-art facilities (Geotechnical laboratories, pavement laboratories, Universit\u00e9 Laval road experimental site (SERUL), and the laboratory of the sustainable development of urban infrastructures) funded in part by the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) and the Government of Quebec.<\/p>\r\n<p>The Department of Civil Engineering and Water Engineering is composed of 22 professors working in soil mechanics, water and environment and structures and materials. The department hosts research and teaching Chairs, research centers, and internationally recognized research groups. There are two undergraduate programs, one in Civil Engineering and the other in Water Engineering.
