Cold Regions Engineering refers to the effects of cold climates upon civil engineering practice, including: planning, design, and construction of engineering works; assessment and protection of the built and natural environments; and evaluation of the impact and mitigation of the effects of climatic change. The CRD, which reports to the Vice-President, Programs Coordinating Committee, is mandated to:

promote and facilitate the advancement, exchange, and transfer of knowledge, skills, and experience in the field of Cold Regions Engineering;

facilitate multidisciplinary collaboration between academia, industry, and governments in Canada;

facilitate knowledge dissemination through preparation of technical publications, promotion of technical sessions on cold regions engineering at CSCE annual conferences, and organization of cold regions engineering conferences, seminars, and lecture tours; and

promote civil engineers as technical leaders in cold regions engineering.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Areas of interest” tab_id=”objectives-committee”][vc_column_text]

Traditional and emerging civil engineering technologies and designs for cold regions

Climate change mitigation and adaptation

Case studies in northern and arctic regions

Education and curriculum development

[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][/vc_tta_accordion][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_tta_accordion style=”modern” shape=”square” active_section=”4546676s8d7g6sgljsdruwe45454df7s” collapsible_all=”true”][vc_tta_section title=”Composition of the committee” tab_id=”members-committee”][vc_column_text]CHAIR: Jianbing Li, University of Northern British Columbia

VICE-CHAIR: Phalguni Mukhopadhyaya, University of Victoria

SECRETARY: Jinkai Xue, University of Regina

Zoe Li, McMaster University[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][/vc_tta_accordion][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”127657″ img_size=”large” style=”vc_box_shadow” css_animation=”bottom-to-top”][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][vc_column_text][/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_tta_accordion style=”modern” active_section=”1″][vc_tta_section title=”Vision and Mission” tab_id=”mandate_committee”][vc_column_text]The Cold Regions Division (CRD) develops CSCE’s leadership role in advancing multidisciplinary research and professional practice of cold […]
